美敦力赢得上诉,避免1.065亿美元的专利判决

- A federal appeals court on Friday overturned a California federal jury verdict that ordered Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) to pay $106.5M to rival Colibri Heart Valve LLC in a patent infringement lawsuit related to heart valve replacement technology.
- A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit found that prior to the trial, the lower court judge had failed to determine if the Ireland-based MedTech giant had violated Colibri’s patent.
- In 2020, Colorado-based Colibri filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court alleging Evolut devices manufactured by Medtronic subsidiary CoreValve LLC infringed its patent related to self-expanding artificial heart valves.
- After a seven-day trial in 2023, a federal jury in Santa Ana, California, ordered Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) to pay $106.5M to Colibri for the alleged violation.
