埃里卡·施瓦茨确认担任疾病预防控制中心主任

For the first time in nearly a year, the CDC will have a permanent director, Erica Schwartz.
The former deputy surgeon general won Senate confirmation Wednesday by a 51-44 vote.
From 2022 until June 2026, Schwartz was president of insurance solutions for Medicare and retirement at UnitedHealthcare (UHC).
Schwartz takes the reins from acting director Jay Bhattacharya, who is also director of the NIH.
The last permanent CDC director was Susan Monarez, who was fired on Aug. 27, 2025, over an apparent disagreement over vaccine policy.
