Catalyst Watch: Oracle earnings, crypto swings, CPI print, and more tariff salvos

Welcome to Seeking Alpha's Catalyst Watch - a breakdown of some of next week's actionable events that stand out. Read more about the events that may impact stock prices next week.

 

Monday - March 10

  • Volatility watch - Gorilla Technology Group (GRRR) and MicroStrategy (MSTR) have a high level of implied volatility based on options trading. Biomea Fusion (BMEA) and Luminar Technologies (LAZR) head into the new week with a high level of short interest outstanding on them. The most overbought stocks per their 14-day relative strength index include Donegal Group (DGICA), Intra-Cellular (ITCI), and AT&T (T). The most oversold stocks per their 14-day Relative Strength Index include Ibotta (IBTA) and Playtika (PLTK). Traders also expect another volatile week for crypto following the creation of the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. The national crypto stockpile consists of bitcoin (BTC-USD), ether (ETH-USD), solana (SOL-USD), XRP (XRP-USD) and cardano (ADA-USD).
  • IPO watch - Redcloud Holdings (RCT) is expected to start trading after pricing its IPO. Post-IPO quiet periods expire on SailPoint (SAIL), Karma Holdings (KRMN), AArdvark Therapeutics (AARD), and Ten Holdings (XHLD) to free up analysts to post ratings. Klarna (KLAR) is seeking to raise at least $1 billion in an initial public offering and is anticipated to file with the SEC within a week. Investors will also be on alert for information about CoreWeave's (CRWV) IPO. The specialized cloud provider is planning to raise around $3 billion to $4 billion at a valuation of approximately $35 billion.
  • Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Oracle (ORCL), Vail Resorts (MTN), and Greenlight Capital (GLRE).
  • All week - The energy industry will be focused on S&P Global CERAWeek in Houston, Texas. The U.S. Secretary of the Interior and Secretary of Energy will both be speakers, along with the CEOs of Occidental (OXY), Saudi Aramco (ARMCO), Shell (SHEL), BP (BP), Blackrock (BLK) and United Airlines (UAL).
  • All day - Amplitude (AMPL) will hold an Investor Day at the Nasdaq MarketSite in New York City. Presentations by Amplitude executives will include updates on the company’s strategy, product roadmap, financials, and business momentum.
  • All day - The South by Southwest media and entertainment festival will include participation from companies such as Microsoft (MSFT), Auddia (AUUD), Eli Lilly (LLY), IBM (IBM), and Rivian Automotive (RIVN).
  • All day - President Trump is scheduled to meet with the CEOs of HP (HPQ), Intel (INTC), IBM (IBM), and Qualcomm (QCOM).
  • All day - The HumanX Conference in Las Vegas will delve into AI topics. OpenAI, Snowflake (SNOW), Meta Platforms (META), and Anthropic will have speakers at the conference.
  • All day - Charter (CHTR), American Tower (AMT), Verizon (VZ), Etsy (ETSY), and Fox (FOXA) are some of the notable companies presenting at the two-day Deutsche Bank Media, Internet & Telecom Conference.
  • All day - The Emerson Electric (EMR) tender offer for Aspen Technology (AZPN) expires.
  • 11:00 a.m. The New York Fed Survey of Consumer Expectations will be released.

 

Tuesday - March 11

  • Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Dick's Sporting Goods (DKS), Casey's General Stores (CASY), United Natural Foods (UNFI), and Ciena (CIEN). Options trading implies a double-digit share price swing for Groupon (GRPN) and Kohl's (KSS) following their reports.
  • All day - Notable investor events include Eaton Corp.'s (ETN) Investor Day, Global-e's (GLBE) Investor Day, Silicon Laboratories' (SLAB) Analyst Day, and Teradyne's (TER) Analyst Day
  • All day - Albertsons (ACI) will replace Aspen Technology (AZPN) in the S&P MidCap 400 Index.
  • 8:00 a.m. The J.M. Smucker (SJM) will participate in a fireside chat at the Bank of America Consumer & Retail Conference.
  • 2:40 p.m. Camping World (CWH) will participate in a fireside chat at Bank of America Consumer & Retail Conference.

 

Wednesday - March 12

  • Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Adobe (ADBE), American Eagle Outfitters (AEO), and Uipath (PATH) . Options trading implies a double-digit share price swing for Fossil (FOSL) and Cardlytics (CDLX) after their reports.
  • All day - Notable investor events include Cloudflare's (NET) Investor Day. Starbucks (SBUX) will also hold its annual meeting, with CEO Brian Niccol making some dramatic changes at the company.
  • All day - The U.S. is set to impose steel and aluminum tariffs of 25% on the European Union.
  • 8:30 a.m. The Consumer Price Index report for February will be released.

 

Thursday - March 13

  • Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Wheaton Precious Metals (WPM), Dollar General (DG), Ulta Beauty (ULTA), and Docusign (DOCU). Options trading implies a double-digit share price swing for Rubrik (RBRK) and Vuzix (VUZI) after their reports are released.
  • All day - Notable investor events include Chefs' Warehouse (CHEF) Investor Day, National CineMedia's (NCMI) Investor Day, Nova Ltd.'s (NVMI) Investor Day, Beacon Roofing Supply's (BECN) Investor Day, and N-able's (NABL) Investor Day.
  • 8:30 a.m The Producer Price Index report will be released by The Bureau of Labor Statistics.

 

Friday - March 14

  • Earnings watch - Notable companies due to report include Li Auto (LI).
  • 10:00 a.m. The University of Michigan will release its preliminary consumer sentiment report for March.
  • All day - O-I Glass (OI) will host an Investor Day event in New York City. "The Power of Glass" event will feature presentations and a question-and-answer session with several members of the company’s global leadership team.
  • All day - Pilgrim's Pride (PPC) will hold an Investor Day at the Nasdaq MarketSite in New York. Members of senior management will be discussing with investors and analysts the company’s strategy, competitive advantages, and approach to capital allocation.
