Wave Life Sciences (WVE) gained in premarket trading on Wednesday after GSK (GSK) selected a liver candidate for further studies as part of a research collaboration between the two companies.
The RNA medicines leveraging Wave’s (WVE) SpiNA design technology, GalNAc-siRNA, will therefore move to the U.K. pharma giant’s development pipeline under a collaboration and license agreement initially reached in 2022.
As part of the deal, the company is entitled to receive up to $330M - $375M in development, launch, and commercial milestone payments in addition to tiered royalties on net sales for each collaboration program.
“With this new hepatic program now transitioning to candidate, our collaboration momentum continues," Wave (WVE) CEO Paul Bolno said, adding that three other programs are currently under development for candidate selection.
