- Qualcomm (QCOM) shares rose 1% in premarket trading on Thursday after the San Diego-based semiconductor company announced it has renewed its patent license agreement with Apple (AAPL).
- "We are pleased to extend the Apple license agreement," said Qualcomm executive John Han in a statement. The agreement is effective April 1, 2027.
- In its most recent quarter, Qualcomm generated $1.28B in technology licensing revenue, down 3% year-over-year.
- Qualcomm has renewed its patent license agreement with Apple several times over the years, most recently in 2023. The Cristiano Amon-led firm also provided Apple with modem chips for its iPhones, though that has slowed down as Apple unveiled its C-series modem chips with the iPhone 16e in 2025.
- Apple shares were little changed in premarket trading on Thursday.
