As part of its "No Roads" flight tour, Archer Aviation (ACHR) completed a piloted roundtrip flight between the Salinas and Hollister municipal airports in California with its Midnight electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The roundtrip flight covered 40 miles and took ~12 minutes each way versus an approximately 30-40-minute trip by car. The aircraft reached a speed of 125 mph at a cruising altitude of 3,550 feet.
In coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration, Archer (ACHR) plans similar trips to Monterey, San Martin, San Jose, and Oakland.
Working with the FAA and state and local partners, these flights will set the stage for Midnight to begin flying in the Los Angeles area and conduct operations under the White House’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP) in Texas, Florida, and New York.
Archer Aviation (ACHR) shares are modestly higher in premarket trading in tandem with peers Joby Aviation (JOBY) and Vertical Aerospace (EVTL).
