- Unity Software (U) was in the spotlight on Friday after Bank of America upgraded the video game engine company to Buy from Neutral after it reported stronger-than-expected results this week.
- Shares rose 5.7% in premarket trading.
- “We upgrade Unity to Buy from Neutral, as we now see a Vector growth runway sustainable through year-end CY27,” analyst Omar Dessouky wrote in a note to clients. “We view Unity Ads’ blowout quarter as an inflection point: it delivers the first financial validation that runtime data can power efficacy gains in Vector’s targeting model, reinforcing the narrative that Unity is following AppLovin’s path toward becoming another scaled user acquisition channel for mobile gaming advertisers. Only games built on Unity 6 (~30% of total) feed data into Vector today, and Unity is actively extending coverage to older titles. We expect a revisions cycle in Street 2H26 & CY27 estimates as 1) runtime data benefits continue to accrue, and 2) the scale of runtime data expands, unlocking further performance gains. 2Q beat driven by Vector blowout performance 2Q26 revenue ($547mn) landed well above the high end of guidance ($515mn).”
- In addition to the upgrade, Dessouky raised his price target on Unity to $50 from $30.
