2025-12-13 03:37
- Thinking Machines, the artificial intelligence startup founded by former OpenAI (OPENAI) CTO Mira Murati, announced the general availability of its application programming interface on Friday.
- Known as Tinker, the API supports models from a wide variety of companies, including Meta's (META) Llama, Alibaba's (BABA) Qwen, OpenAI's GPT-OSS and DeepSeek's (DEEPSEEK) V3.1.
- Pricing for the API varies by model, according to the company's website.
- Separately, on Friday, it added support for Moonshot's Kimi-2-Thinking model. “With a trillion parameters, Kimi K2 is the largest model in our lineup so far. It is built for long chains of reasoning and tool use,” Thinking Machines wrote on its website.
- In July, Thinking Machines raised $2B in a funding round that valued it at $10B. Andreessen Horowitz, also known as a16z, led the funding round, which included participation by Nvidia (NVDA), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), ServiceNow (NOW), Cisco Systems (CSCO) and others.
