WeRide (WRD) has been granted a federal level license by the United Arab Emirates' Regulations Lab to operate fully driverless robotaxis.
The UAE’s Regulations Lab is a government initiative that develops and tests emerging and technologies to be deployed across the Emirates.
The federal level license allows WeRide’s (WRD) robotaxis to operate in the UAE commercially without an onboard safety driver.
China’s WeRide (WRD) had already been operating robotaxis in the Abu Dhabi since December 2024, including the May launch of driverless vehicles through a partnership with Uber (UBER).
There are currently more than 100 WeRide (WRD) robotaxis in the Middle East.
Shares opened more than 3% lower, reversing a premarket gain of 4%.
