2025-10-27 14:18

  • Barclays (NYSE:BCS) is said to be re-entering Saudi Arabia, becoming the latest bank to boost operations in the oil-rich kingdom.
  • The London-based lender is in the process of securing a license to conduct investment banking activities in the country and plans to open an office in Riyadh next year as part of that push, Bloomberg News reported.
  • "If I may break that news, we will be recognizing Barclays (NYSE:BCS) for the regional headquarters in a couple of days, and I'd like to thank you for that word of confidence in the kingdom as a platform," Investment Minister Khaled al-Falih said at a business forum in Riyadh on Sunday.
  • The minister was addressing Barclays CEO C.S. Venkatakrishnan on stage at the Fortune Global Forum in the Saudi capital.
  • The development comes as Goldman Sachs ( GS) is setting up a private wealth management team in Saudi Arabia, it said last week.
