F5 Inc. (NASDAQ:FFIV) shares fell Wednesday after revealing that a nation-state threat actor gained long-term unauthorized access to parts of its systems, including its BIG-IP product development environment, in a breach first detected in August.
The company said the intrusion has been contained, with no new activity observed since mitigation efforts began. An internal investigation found that the attacker maintained persistent access to certain systems, exfiltrating files that included portions of BIG-IP source code and details about undisclosed vulnerabilities under development.
F5 emphasized that there is no evidence of access or data theft from its CRM, financial, support, or iHealth systems. The company added that the incident has not materially impacted operations but is continuing to assess any potential financial implications.
