Morningstar (NASDAQ:MORN), an investment insights company, announced on Tuesday the acquisition of the Center for Research in Security Prices from the University of Chicago.
The purchase price for the acquisition is $375M.
The Center for Research in Security Prices provides historical stock market data and indexes. CRSP generates ~$55M in annual revenue.
The acquisition is anticipated to make Morningstar one of the largest index providers for public U.S. equity index funds.
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter.
