Service Properties Trust (NASDAQ:SVC) sold five hotels with 690 rooms for $44.9 million. This is part of a larger agreement to sell 114 hotels totaling 14,925 rooms for $920 million.
So far, SVC has sold seven hotels (995 rooms) for $63.9 million and remains under contract to sell 106 hotels (13,808 rooms) for $849.4 million. One hotel with 122 rooms, previously set to sell for $6.7 million, is no longer under agreement. The remaining sales are expected to close in phases by the end of 2025.
SVC plans to use proceeds to repay debt, including its revolving credit facility, and is also exploring other property sales and various other debt refinancing opportunities, such as a potential zero-coupon bond financing or new secured/unsecured debt transactions, to address near-term maturities and capital needs.
