劳工部监察长调查劳工统计局数据收集“挑战”
2025-09-11 00:43
- The Department of Labor's Office of Inspector General has opened an investigation into the Bureau of Labor Statistics' "challenges" in its collecting and reporting of economic data.
- The announcement of the probe comes just a day after a BLS preliminary benchmark revision found that U.S. employment growth in the 12 months through March 2025 was 911K less than official government data previously showed.
- A Sept. 10 letter from Assistant Inspector General for Audit Laura B. Nicolosi to acting BLS Commissioner William J. Wiatrowski states that the probe's focus is "on the challenges and related mitigating strategies for (1) collecting PPI and CPI data, and (2) collecting and reporting, including revising, monthly reporting data."
- In early August, President Trump fired former BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer following the release of a weak July jobs report saying the data was "rigged."
