Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO and DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) chief Elon Musk suggested that the U.S. Postal Service and Amtrak should be privatized, emphasizing that anything that can be privatized should be, Reuters reported.

"I think logically we should privatize anything that can reasonably be privatized," Musk said during a remote appearance at a Morgan Stanley conference. "I think we should privatize the Post Office and Amtrak, for example... We should privatize everything we possibly can."

He also criticized the state of passenger rail in the U.S., comparing it to high-speed rail in China. "And we come back to America, like, Amtrak is a sad situation." Musk said. "If you’re coming from another country, please don’t use our national rail. It can leave you with a very bad impression of America." 

Musk believes that privatizing these entities could lead to more efficient operations, though he acknowledged that such actions would require congressional approval. Both the U.S. Postal Service and Amtrak continue to face financial difficulties.

Trump had previously considered merging the Postal Service with the Commerce Department; however, the Democrats said that would violate federal law.
