Instacart (CART) and Dollar General (DG) announced a partnership on Wednesday to offer same-day delivery of Dollar General's everyday products through the Instacart app and website.
The pilot will initially launch at ~7K Dollar General and pOpshelf stores across six states in the coming weeks.
The companies plan to expand the service to about 20K stores across 48 states this fall.
Customers will be able to order food, snacks, household essentials, and health and beauty products, with delivery in as little as one hour.
Dollar General will join more than 2.2K national and local retail banners available on the Instacart Marketplace.
Following the news, the Instacart stock surged ~4.26% at ~$46.26 in the pre-market hours.
