Roivant (ROIV) traded lower in the premarket on Wednesday after its subsidiary Immunovant (IMVT) failed in a proof-of-concept trial for IMVT-1402, an experimental therapy for a skin-related autoimmune condition known as cutaneous lupus erythematosus.
Citing 12-week data, the company said that the 57-patient trial did not achieve its primary endpoint, which was based on a clinical tool called the Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus Disease Area and Severity Index Activity (CLASI-A) score.
While results for the primary endpoint lacked statistical significance, multiple endpoints favored IMVT-1402 over placebo numerically, and the experimental therapy was found to have a promising safety and tolerability profile consistent with its prior studies, according to Roivant (ROIV).
Given rivalry in the CLE space and the trial results, Immunovant (IMVT) no longer plans to advance IMVT-1402 for the condition.
