Rent the Runway (RENT) settled a class action lawsuit for $9M in cash and stock, resolving all claims from the 2022 complaint that the company made misleading statements to investors at the time of its 2021 initial public offering.
The plaintiffs accuse the company and its officers of making materially misleading statements and omitting material facts regarding the company’s growth at the time of the IPO.
Of the $9M settlement, $3.1M will come from the company and $2.9M from insurers. The plaintiffs (Rajat Sharma and all others similarly situated) will receive $6M in cash and $3M in stock.
Rent the Runway (RENT) opened for trade on October 27, 2021, at $23 per share. Shares currently trade at $3.91 per share, a loss of 83% in value.
