2026-08-04 20:49

  • Bitdeer Technologies (BTDR) announced on Tuesday that its AI business signed a 16-year AI data center lease and services agreement with Volta Tydal AS, expected to generate about $4.7B in contracted revenue.
  • The agreement includes a one-time 8-year renewal option that could increase the total contract value to about $8.0B.
  • Under the deal, Bitdeer will provide 121 MW of IT capacity at its Norway data center, which will use NVIDIA (NVDA) GPUs for a leading AI lab, with Dell Technologies (DELL) serving as the technology provider.
  • Volta's payment obligations are expected to be backed by $1.3B in letters of credit.
  • The project is expected to deliver an estimated 90% net operating income (NOI) margin, with average annual revenue of about $2.4M per IT MW and 3% annual pricing escalators.
  • The company expects Phase 1 to begin by Dec. 31, 2026, followed by Phase 2 by Mar. 31, 2027.
  • It also plans to develop two additional data halls with 47 MW of gross capacity for future AI and high-performance computing projects.
  • Bitdeer estimates about $500M of remaining capital spending for the project and said it plans to raise additional debt financing to support the Tydal campus and future AI infrastructure expansion.
  • CFO Michael G. Potter said the agreement marks a key milestone in Bitdeer's strategy to expand its global AI infrastructure platform and help establish Norway as a large-scale AI computing hub powered by renewable energy.
  • Following the news, the stock jumped over 8% to ~$12.36 in the pre-market hours.
