TOP Ships (TOPS) announced on Wednesday that it agreed to acquire three companies developing ECO MR product tankers, expanding its tanker fleet and future revenue backlog.
The three scrubber-fitted MR tankers are scheduled for delivery in 2029.
The tankers have secured 5-year time charters with an oil major, with a 1-year extension option.
The deal adds ~$140.6M in potential gross revenue backlog, including optional periods.
The company will pay ~$7.4M for the three companies, net of a $23.5M refund from its previously canceled Dubai real estate deal.
The transaction is expected to close by September 30, 2026, subject to customary conditions.
Including the new vessels, TOP Ships expects its 10 newbuilding MR tankers to have approximately $680M in potential gross revenue backlog.
Including its operating fleet charters and its 50% share of the JV vessel backlog, total potential gross revenue backlog rises to approximately $929M, including optional periods.
The CEO said the deal supports the company's shift of capital back into its core tanker business while adding an oil major to its charterer base.
