Coherent (COHR), Ciena (CIEN), and Lumentum (LITE) are viewed favorably in the optical networking space, investment firm Oppenheimer said, with Coherent topping the group.
“We are observing faster cycle times between networking standards, which have historically been tethered to a multi-year development cycle,” Oppenheimer analysts wrote in a note to clients. “We expect linear scaling of AI networking to accelerate as compute performance continues to scale quadratically. While valuations are at multi-year, if not historical, highs, we believe that continued profitability improvement, and associated multiple expansion, is likely as key suppliers leverage IP portfolios against increasingly complex technological requirements. Given valuation consideration and expected near-term execution, we lean most favorably towards COHR, although we continue to expect positively biased estimate revisions for LITE and CIEN as well.”
Oppenheimer has Buy ratings on all three.
