Stock index futures were little changed Tuesday as invstors awaited data on the labor market with as the Fed's two-day meeting starts.
The delayed September Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey, or JOLTS, arrives before the bell.
The 'no hiring, no firing' narrative "has been important to stabilizing consumer spending," UBS Chief Economist Paul Donovan said. "However, the survey response rate is only around a third; and if two thirds fail to respond, it raises questions about the impartiality of the responses that are received."
S&P 500 futures (SPX) edged higher by +0.0823% to 6,852.14, while Dow futures (INDU) advanced +0.0765% to 47,775.83. Nasdaq 100 futures (US100:IND) slipped marginally by -0.0042% to 25,626.86.
U.S. Treasury yields showed varied movements across the yield curve. The U.S. 2-year Treasury yield (US2Y) rose slightly by +0.14% to 3.59%, while the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield (US10Y) declined by -0.31% to 4.15%. The longer-dated U.S. 30-year Treasury yield (US30Y) fell more substantially, down -0.42% to 4.78%.
Top gainers in premarket trading included Pentair plc (PNR) +2.40%, Corteva, Inc. (CTVA) +2.00%, and NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA) +1.78%. Notable decliners included Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NCLH) -1.78%, Qnity Electronics, Inc. (Q) -1.61%, and Mid-America Apartment Communities, Inc. (MAA) -1.61%.
