STAAR Surgical (NASDAQ:STAA) said it has not received any proposal to acquire the company other than from Alcon (NYSE:ALC), including the 45-day "window shop" period.
"As previously disclosed, the communications from Party A and B were not offers and contained no information relating to valuation, timing, diligence requirements, financing capability, transaction structure, or other terms," STAAR Surgical said in a statement on Thursday. The outreach from parties A, B and C were not offers.
The latest comments from STAAR Surgical (NASDAQ:STAA) come after prominent proxy adviser ISS said holders should vote against Alcon's (NYSE:ALC) planned $1.5 billion purchase of the implantable lens maker. Fellow proxy firm Glass Lewis last week also recommended shareholders vote against the transaction. A vote on the deal is set for Oct. 23.
