Ulta (NASDAQ:ULTA) has gone international with the opening of its brick-and-mortar stores in Mexico in partnership with Grupo Axo, leveraging Axo’s established presence in the Mexican beauty market with Ulta’s (NASDAQ:ULTA) brand recognition.
The first store opened August 21 at Antara Fashion Hall in Mexico City, followed on August 30 at the Galerias Metepec with future openings scheduled across the region throughout the year in Guadalajara, Tijuana, Monterrey, and Mexico City.
“Entering Mexico represents a bold and exciting step for Ulta Beauty as we bring our unparalleled assortment and inclusive shopping experience to beauty lovers in this significant international market,” said Kecia Steelman, CEO of Ulta Beauty.
The stores will offer the current selection of beauty, fragrance, and personal care products, as well as local Mexican beauty brands like AHAL, AloeVida, Bailando Juntos by Yuya, and Sarelly Creativo Lab.
As the largest specialty retailer in the U.S. the expansion into Mexico follows Ulta’s (NASDAQ:ULTA) goal of becoming a global brand and expanding its footprint worldwide to the Middle East, UK, and Ireland.
