Weatherford wins contract for managed pressure drilling services at Mexico's Trion project

Weatherford International (NASDAQ:WFRD) said post-market Monday that it was awarded a "significant" contract to deliver managed pressure drilling services for the Trion deepwater oil project off the coast of Mexico, operated by Woodside Petroleum (WDS).

Weatherford (NASDAQ:WFRD) said the multi-year contract includes managed pressure drilling services for eight wells initially, with the potential to expand to 24 wells.

As part of the project, Weatherford (WFRD) will deploy its Victus intelligent MPD system, which is designed to enhance drilling safety, efficiency, and performance.

The Trion project is located in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, ~180 km east of the coast of Tamaulipas and 30 km south of the US-Mexico maritime border; it is a 60-40 joint venture of Woodside Petroleum (WDS) and Mexico's state-owned Pemex.
