Jeff Bezos weighing possible purchase of CNBC business network: report

2025-07-24 21:42

Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos is evaluating a potential bid for business network CNBC after it's spun off from NBCUniversal parent Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) later this year.

An acquisition might make sense as it would add a "neutral voice" to his portfolio, which includes The Washington Post, according to a New York Post report on Wednesday, which cited an unidentified source close to Bezos.

Bezos hasn't approached Comcast regarding his potential interest, according to the report.

A representative for Bezos declined to comment to the Post.

In November, Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) confirmed that it will pursue a tax-free spinoff of NBCUniversal’s portfolio of TV channels and list them as a separate public company, which will include USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY, and Golf Channel. The networks-focused entity that is being spun out of media and cable giant Comcast will be called "Versant."
