Emerson completes purchase of Aspen Technology

Emerson Electric (NYSE:EMR) completed its acquisition of Aspen Technology (NASDAQ:AZPN) shares that it didn't already own for $265 a share. 

With the completion of the purchase, AspenTech is now a wholly owned unit of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and will Aspen will cease to trade, according to a statement on Wednesday.

A deal close comes even as prominent activist investor Elliott Investment Management pushed against the deal, saying the $265 a share price was too low. Elliott had accumulated a more than $1.5 billion stake in Aspen Tech.
