Rigetti Computing CEO says 'we have to tamp down expectations'

Rigetti Computing (NASDAQ:RGTI) Chief Executive Officer Subodh Kulkarni said in an interview with Yahoo Finance that the company and the quantum computing sector have to "tamp down expectations," amid a surge in the share prices in recent weeks.
"Particularly because of the hype that is going on in the quantum computing space and some erroneous statements are being made, including by people in the industry, we have to tamp down some expectations" Kulkarni told the news outlet.
"So I have to tell them [investors] that it's still not the time to talk about sales and sales growth because we are still very much in the technology development mode," Kulkarni added. "We have to get the technology perfected before we can start seeing real material difference in sales."
Rigetti shares rose 18% in premarket trading on Wednesday, while other stocks in the sector, including IonQ (IONQ), Arqit Quantum (ARQQ), Quantum Computing (QUBT) and D-Wave Systems (QBTS) also saw healthy gains.
Separately, on Wednesday, Nvidia (NVDA) announced that it would hold its first-ever quantum day at its annual GTC event in March.
