BlackLine (NASDAQ:BL) ticked higher and has pared its gain as the company announced the appointment of David Henshall to its board, an executive who has been on the boards of several companies that have been sold.
Henshall was most recently president and CEO of Citrix Systems, according to a statement on Tuesday.
The addition of Henshall to the Blackline (BL) board comes as activist investor Jana Partners reported a 1.9% stake in the company in its Q2 13F filing.
Gordon Haskett's Don Bilson highlighted in a note on Tuesday that BlackLine (BL) is also a large holding of private equity fund Clearlake Capital and that Henshall was on the board of New Relic, where activist Jana also had a board seat and was sold.
Henshall was also director at HashiCorp. (HCP) Everbridge and LogMeIn, which were also sold while he was on the board of the companies, Bilson pointed out in an item.
IBM in late April agreed to buy HashiCorp (HCP) for $35 a share in cash.
