Asset managers Apollo Global Management (NYSE:APO), KKR & Co. (NYSE:KKR) and Stonepeak are considering investing in a joint venture with Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) to help fund the semiconductor giant's fab in Ireland, Bloomberg reported.
The trio could raise several billion dollars for the upcoming plant, the news outlet reported, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
Santa Clara, Calif.-based Intel did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
It was reported in February that Intel was looking for a partner to provide at least $2B in equity for the Ireland facility. The Pat Gelsinger-led company is working with an adviser to solicit interest in the plant.
Intel signed a deal with Brookfield Infrastructure Partners (BIP) (BAM) in August 2022 worth up to $30B to help pay for its factory expansion plans.
Intel shares fell nearly 10% on Friday amid weaker-than-expected guidance that led to much frustration amongst Wall Street firms.
