01:34 PM EDT, 07/01/2022 (MT Newswires) -- Entergy (ETR) said Friday its unit Entergy New Orleans has made a filing with its regulator, the New Orleans City Council, for grid hardening projects estimated to cost nearly $1.5 billion over 10 years.

The filing provides options for the regulator including grid resilience and hardening projects and alternative technologies such as microgrids, Entergy said, adding that extreme weather events have been hitting the New Orleans area with increased frequency.

Entergy said the regulator had opened a grid hardening and resilience docket in October 2021 asking stakeholders to propose infrastructure resiliency and storm hardening plans.
